2016 Dias Festival 3 – 7 February

The Portuguese explorer Bartholomeu Dias headed an expedition to sail around the southern tip of Africa in the hope of finding a trade route to India.  Dias and his fleet eventually entered what he named Aguada de São Brás (Bay of Saint Blaise) – later renamed Mossel Bay after the abundance of mussels in the bay – on 3 February 1488. His landing will again be celebrated this year with the 2016 Dias Festival from 3 February 2016 to 7 February 2016.

In the spirit of “Where Cultures Meet” there will be something for everybody to enjoy at the 2016 Dias Festival – 528 years down the road of the landing of Dias’s fleet at Mossel Bay on 3 February 1488. As been a feature of this festival – entry will be FREE! This will enable all to enjoy some of South Africa’s most popular artists and international shows free of charge.

The fun-filled programme will include

  • live shows by artists such as Emo Adams, Dr Victor, Hemelbesem, BlackByrd, Adam, Jennifer Zamudio, Lloyd Cele, Manuel Escorcio, Zoe Zana, Michael Lindt, Ray Dylon, Lianie May, Snotkop and more on the sound stage at the main festival arena at the Santos Caravan Park.
